PoE (Power over Ethernet) is the most reliable type of video surveillance: a single network cable simultaneously transmits power and data. No WiFi that can fail, no batteries that go empty, no SIM card fees — once cleanly laid, the installation runs low-maintenance for years. Reolink PoE cameras come in bullet and turret form, with resolutions up to 12 MP and 16 MP.
Bullet, turret, dual — the form factors
Reolink PoE cameras cover all common form factors. Bullet (RP-PCB12M, RP-PCB8MZ, RC-PCB8M): the elongated shape, clearly visible — acts as a deterrent, ideal for outer walls and driveways. Turret (RP-PCT8M, RP-PCT8MD, RP-PCT16MD): the compact dome shape, more discreet, more vandalism-resistant. The dual models (RP-PCT16MD, RP-PCT8MD — D = dual) have two lenses for an especially wide field of view without blind spots.
Resolution and zoom — what the codes mean
The specification is in the article numbers: 8M / 12M / 16M = 8, 12 or 16 megapixels resolution (more MP = more detail, e.g. readable number plates). Z = motorised zoom (RP-PCB8MZ, RP-PCV8MZ — image section adjustable remotely). D = dual lens. We choose the suitable model with you depending on distance, desired level of detail and field of view.
Why PoE for serious surveillance
When video surveillance really matters — commercial, workshop, larger property, anything where usable footage is needed in an emergency — there is no way around PoE. Permanent power supply, no radio dropouts, 24/7 recording guaranteed. The Reolink PoE cameras connect to a Reolink NVR (see NVR recorders) and thus form a closed, reliable system without running costs.
