Classic phone systems with ISDN cards and proprietary hardware are not up-to-date in 2026 — and expensive. 3CX replaces this with a software PBX that runs on a normal server or in the cloud. Smartphone app for every employee, browser telephony, video conferencing and live chat — all included. Licence costs are paid per installation, not per extension.

What makes 3CX special

Three points: software instead of hardware (runs on Linux or Windows server, no separate phone device), app-first (smartphone app is a full extension, every employee is reachable everywhere), licence model per installation (not per extension — you can connect any number of employees without licence costs scaling linearly).
