Central recording for 8 or 16 PoE cameras — with AI video search.

The NVR (Network Video Recorder) is the control centre of a PoE camera installation: it supplies the cameras with power via the built-in PoE ports, records all camera images centrally to a hard drive and makes the recordings searchable via app, PC or directly on the monitor. We carry the professional models RP-PN8-NHD (8 PoE ports) and RP-PN16-NHD (16 PoE ports).

RP-PN8-NHD and RP-PN16-NHD — the two sizes

The choice is simple based on the number of cameras: the RP-PN8-NHD (RP-PN8-NHD(EU)-R2) has 8 PoE ports — fits small to medium installations (single-family home, small workshop). The RP-PN16-NHD (RP-PN16-NHD(EU)-R2) has 16 PoE ports and even supports up to 24 channels total — for larger properties and commercial use. Both support cameras with up to 16 MP resolution. The code “NHD” means “No HDD” — we choose and equip the hard drive to match the desired recording duration.

AI video search — find recordings in seconds

The strongest feature of the Reolink professional NVRs: the AI video search. Instead of clicking through recordings for hours, you type a search term like “white van” or “person with hat” — the NVR finds the matching clips from the entire recording material in seconds. Plus heatmap analysis (shows where people are most often — interesting for shops) and perimeter protection (alarm on line crossing).

Storage planning — how big does the hard drive need to be

Since the NVRs are delivered without a hard drive (NHD), we plan the storage size with you. Rule of thumb: more cameras, higher resolution and longer retention duration need more storage. The RP-PN16 holds up to 32 TB. For a typical installation with 6-8 cameras and ~30 days retention, 4-8 TB is usually enough. Both NVRs use efficient H.265 compression, which roughly halves the storage requirement compared to the old H.264.
